Tooth removal with root separation

Root separation is indicated when:

• Firmly seated teeth must be loosened to prevent tooth fracture or destruction of the environment (tooth wall break-off);
• Roots are highly branched or crooked;
• Caries has deeply affected one side, as the pliers cannot grip the destroyed tooth surface properly.
