Buccal occlusion / laterognathia
Laterognathia is understood as a lateral crossbite of individual or all side teeth with mandibular dislocation of the lower jaw's centre. In this case the objective of treatment is the improved chewing function, as normal articulation is frequently impossible. A buccal occlusion is understood as occlusional dysfunction in the lateral tooth area, in which the upper premolars or molars buccally bite past their antagonists.
